AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE CELEBRATION OF THE 300TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OUTSTANDING POET-THINKER MAGTYMGULY FRAGI ON THE PAGES OF A POPULAR UKRAINIAN BUSINESS MAGAZINE

At the end of May 2024, in the next issue of the popular in Ukraine business magazine “Kyiv Diplomatic”, an article was published in honor of the anniversary of the national poet of Turkmenistan, an outstanding personality of world literature, the founder of Turkmen classical literature and the Turkmen literary language Magtymguly Fragi under the title “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi: 300 years since the birth of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker”. The article was prepared by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine.  

The Kyiv Diplomatic magazine comprehensively popularizes the cultures of different nations among Ukrainian readers, talks about the life and activities of diplomatic institutions and diplomats working in Ukraine and abroad, and covers topics of international politics, diplomacy, economics, business and culture.

The magazine is published in two languages ​​- Ukrainian and English. Its target audience is representatives of Ukrainian government bodies, diplomats, representatives of business circles, and public figures.

The publication in the “Cultural Diplomacy” section begins with the words of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov about the rich literary heritage of the poet. The article highlights the main milestones in the life and creative path of the poet Magtymguly, the universal significance and international recognition of his heritage, which has become part of the treasury of world culture. Here talks about the influence of the example of his father, the poet and scientist Dovletmammed Azadi on the formation of his son’s talent, about the spiritual and moral values ​​and instructions with which Fragi called on the Turkmen to national unity, harmony, the development of their own culture and education, kindness and humanism. His bright ideas and instructions, which went beyond national boundaries, meet the needs of generations of peoples of the world and are heard in different languages. Magtymguly’s poetry sounds with renewed vigor, becoming a messenger of goodwill of the Turkmen people in the development of friendly, good neighborly relations and strengthening international humanitarian ties.

A distinctive feature of Fragi's poetry is its enrichment with folk forms of artistic expression and advanced ideas of its time, the approach of poetic language to living spoken language, the richness of the spirit and style of folklore creativity close to the people.

The article describes the work done jointly with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to study, popularize and perpetuate the rich literary heritage of Magtymguly Fragi in the world, and also describes in detail the long-term activities to preserve historical, cultural and natural monuments for future generations on the territory of Turkmenistan and, of course, on inclusion in the UNESCO Representative List of types of intangible cultural heritage of our country.

The article talks about the proclamation by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) of 2024 as “The Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World – Magtymguly Fragi”, and the city of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world.

The reader's attention is drawn to the high interest of foreign scientists and researchers in studying the biography and work of Fraga. Among them are the discoverers, orientalists Alexander Khodzko-Boreyko and Arminius Vamberi.

Particular attention is paid to the work of Ukrainian cult figures. In the XX century Magtymguly's poems were translated by famous Ukrainian poets, writers, translators Vladimir Sosyura, Yaroslav Shporta, Agata Turchinska, Pavel Tychyna, Leonid Pervomaisky, Valentin Bychko, Nikolai Tereshchenko, Mechislav Gasko, Natalya Zabila, Ivan Puchko, Petro Doroshko.

Nowadays, the literary heritage of Fragi has been studied, translated and comprehensively popularized in Ukraine and abroad for many years by Pavel Movchan and Alexey Kononenko, who were awarded the state award of Turkmenistan - the Magtymguly Fragi medal, as well as professor, Doctor of Philology Nikolai Vaskiv and researcher at the Institute of Literature. The article pays attention to the upcoming events on the occasion of the Day of Workers of Culture and Art, as well as the poetry of Magtymguly Fragi, which is widely celebrated annually on June 27 in Turkmenistan and in foreign countries where the outstanding Magtymguly is honored. In Kyiv, on this day, celebrations will take place at the Fragi monument in the central square of the capital, as well as in the Kyiv Magtymguly Library on Zodchikh Street. It is symbolic that at the beginning of the anniversary year the Library named after. New exhibits of decorative and applied arts of Turkmenistan and Turkmen book products, provided by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen thinker, were solemnly handed over to Magtymguly.

The article in the popular Ukrainian magazine is intended to help familiarize the public with the biography and work of the outstanding master of words and philosopher Magtymguly Fraga, and to promote the ideas of patriotism, friendship, peace and mutual understanding sung by the poet.
