VISIT OF THE NATIONAL LEADER OF THE TURKMEN PEOPLE, CHAIRMAN OF THE HALK MASLAHATY OF TURKMENISTAN TO THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

On September 8, 2024, a working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Kazakhstan took place to participate in the official opening ceremony of the 5th World Nomad Games at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

At the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana, where the Guard of Honor was lined up, the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was met by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov and other officials.

Then the motorcade of the National Leader of the Turkmen People headed to the Akorda Palace. A meeting of the National Leader of the Turkmen People and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took place here.

During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to exchange views on topical issues of interstate cooperation.

Thanking the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for accepting the invitation to take part in the opening of the World Nomad Games, the head of Kazakhstan emphasized that he was glad to meet with the National Leader of the Turkmen people, especially on such an important day for the country.

It was especially noted that the visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan to Kazakhstan is of great importance for the further promotion of bilateral cooperation, which is actively developing and fully consistent with the level of strategic partnership.

President Kassym-Jomart noted the enormous contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to strengthening the interstate dialogue, which has been distinguished by increasing dynamics in recent years. This is confirmed by regular high-level meetings, the Kazakh leader said, emphasizing the importance and highly appreciating the results of the recent working visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Astana.

Expressing sincere gratitude to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the warm welcome and invitation to take part in the ceremonial event, the National Leader of the Turkmen people said that it was a great honor for him to visit Kazakhstan again and be an honored guest at the events. The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty noted the significant role of Astana in organizing major international events that contribute to raising the profile of Kazakhstan on the world stage.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and on his own behalf and on behalf of the head of Turkmenistan congratulated the people of Kazakhstan and wished them to hold the V World Nomad Games at a high level, and great achievements to all participants in the competitions.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted the importance of sports in the modern world, which is a factor in strengthening global peace, friendship and fruitful cooperation between peoples and states. He noted the role of the World Nomad Games, which contribute to the preservation and revival of the cultural characteristics of nomadic tribes, as well as creating opportunities for representatives of various countries to become familiar with their original traditions. It was especially noted that Turkmen athletes have been participating in these competitions since the first Games, along with athletes from the countries of the region, winning prizes.

Then the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized that on the eve of the opening of the World Nomad Games, in particular on September 6 at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, a Resolution on the UN Friendship Games, initiated by Turkmenistan, was adopted.

For all of us, this is a double holiday, said the National Leader of the Turkmen people, emphasizing that this document is aimed at creating a solid platform for the implementation of sports diplomacy at the UN site.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty expressed deep gratitude to the Kazakh side for the support provided in this matter and co-authorship.

Having thanked for the kind words and conveyed his best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the adoption of this UN Resolution.

During the meeting, which was held in a trustworthy manner, the progress of the implementation of previously reached agreements was discussed. The interlocutors exchanged views on key issues of partnership, including through authoritative international and regional organizations.

The parties spoke in favor of further enhancing cooperation in accordance with the requirements of the time and in the interests of both fraternal peoples.

Emphasis was also placed on the fruitful activities of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, as well as regular consultations and meetings between the Foreign Ministries. The importance of the participation of delegations of the two countries in major economic forums organized in Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan was noted. In this regard, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty emphasized that the Investment Forum will be held in Ashgabat in the coming days, with delegates expected to include representatives of many countries, including Kazakhstan.

The parties also discussed cultural and humanitarian cooperation. It was noted that relations between the two countries are based on common cultural and spiritual values, similar traditions and mutual understanding.

A striking example of this is the opening of a monument to the great poet and philosopher Magtymguly in Astana and the installation of a sculpture of one of the creative figures of Kazakhstan, Kurmangazy Sagyrbaiuly, in the capital's cultural and park complex "Magtymguly Pyragy" in Ashgabat.

Continuing with the topic, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty said that a monument to the outstanding Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbayev will be installed in one of the beautiful corners of the Turkmen capital - along Astana Street.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty invited President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to visit Turkmenistan and take part in the celebrations dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi's birth as an honorary guest. Having accepted the invitation with gratitude, the head of Kazakhstan expressed confidence that the meeting in Ashgabat and the agreements reached as a result would contribute to the expansion of Turkmen-Kazakh cooperation.

In this context, issues of preparation for the upcoming visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan in October of this year were discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev exchanged best wishes, addressing the peoples of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan with wishes of peace, progress and prosperity.
