MEETING WITH PROFESSOR NIKOLAI VASKIV – LAUREATE OF THE JUBILEE MEDAL OF TURKMENISTAN «MAGTYMGULY PYRAGYNYŇ 300 ÝYLLYGYNA» AT THE EMBASSY OF TURKMENISTAN IN KYIV

On October 21, 2024 a meeting was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine with Professor Nikolay Vaskiv, a senior fellow at the Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, on the occasion of being awarded the jubilee medal of Turkmenistan «Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna».

With this honorary medal, established by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the year of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi, Nikolay Vaskiv was awarded for his great merits in the study, careful preservation and popularization of the rich and priceless creative heritage of the great thinker and classical poet of the East Magtymguly Fragi, as well as for his merits in the development of cultural and friendly relations with Turkmenistan. 

The award ceremony took place on October 10, 2024, at the Magtymguly Turkmen State University in Ashgabat, on the eve of the high-level anniversary event - International forum "Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development," in honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi. Nikolai Vaskiv, among other foreign citizens, received a high award from the hands of the Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova.

In addition, as part of his trip to Ashgabat, Professor N. Vaskiv gave a lecture to the students and teachers of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, where he shared his experience and knowledge in studying and popularizing the legacy of the outstanding Turkmen poet Magtymguly, Turkmen literature and culture in general.

The awarding of Professor, Doctor of Philological Sciences Nikolai Vaskiv - the author of the Ukrainian-language literary and artistic publication " Magtymguly Fragi. Revelation" and a number of popular science studies on the life and work of the great Turkmen poet, became a memorable date in the history of Turkmen-Ukrainian cultural cooperation. Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Ukraine Mr. Toyly Atayev heartily congratulated Nikolay Stepanovich Vaskiv on the high and well-deserved award, expressing his conviction that his many years of work and significant contribution to the popularization of the works of Magtymguly Fragi in Ukraine and in the world, as well as his valuable contribution to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between our peoples and cultural dialogue between our countries, were duly noted. In turn, Professor Vaskiv was extremely pleased and grateful for the honor of being awarded such a high medal, in connection with which he expressed deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the high appreciation of his work and trust. Taking part in the anniversary events on the occasion of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, the professor noted the extremely high level of their organization and conduct, as well as the warm hospitality shown to the participants of the events in the capital Ashgabat and the smart city of Arkadag. Nikolai Vaskiv wished further prosperity and well-being to the friendly Turkmen people and all of Turkmenistan.

The meeting at the Embassy of Turkmenistan was attended by the publisher of the book " Magtymguly Fragi. Revelation" Viktor Zelensky, whose publishing house has published a lot of Turkmen literature in the Ukrainian language. V. Zelensky expressed his intention to continue to promote the popularization of Turkmen literature among Ukrainian readers, books about the history, culture, and traditions of the Turkmen people, written, in particular, by the Esteemed Leadership of Turkmenistan, as well as the poetry of the outstanding thinker of the 18th century, Magtymguly Fragi.
