The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), in partnership with the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan, conducted a two-week training on improving the effectiveness of data use in developing child rights policies.

The purpose of the training series, entitled "Capacity building for Public administration: Monitoring, evaluation and analysis of data on children's rights", is to train key decision makers, including representatives of Parliament, ministries, departments and academia, in the analysis and application of data related to children.

In modern world, numbers are not just indicators in reports, they change lives. When it comes to protecting and promoting children's rights, data is not just important, it is necessary. Therefore, understanding and using data effectively is the key to shaping policies that truly protect and support children. That is why a series of specialized trainings was organized.

Turkmenistan is strengthening its own data collection system, focusing on building policies for children on a solid evidence-based basis. The National Action Plan for the Implementation of Children's Rights (2023-2028) focuses on increasing the availability of data, strengthening to monitoring the child rights and national assessment capacity.

By strengthening national capacities in the field of data and assessment, Turkmenistan is laying the foundation for a future in which the rights of every child will be fully realized. UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan Jalpa Ratna noted that these trainings effectively support Turkmenistan's efforts to protect and promote children's rights by using data.
