NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN FOREIGN MINISTERS OF TURKMENISTAN AND CHINA WAS HELD

On June 28, 2020, a telephone conversation took place between the Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China R. Meredov and Wang I.

During constructive negotiations, the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries discussed a broad agenda of bilateral relations. The intensification of mutual support between Turkmenistan and China within the framework of various regional and international organizations has also become a special topic of discussion.

In particular, topical regional and international issues were considered, including the consolidation of joint efforts to counter the new type of coronavirus pandemic. In this context, diplomats noted the importance and relevance of the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan to create a Council of medical scientists to organize and conduct effective timely consolidated work in emergency situations. The Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and China also particularly noted that, in view of the complex global situations, the popularization of effective mechanisms of scientific diplomacy is becoming relevant.

The Chinese side emphasized the timeliness of the adoption of the National Plan for Preparing Turkmenistan to Counteract Acute Infectious Disease and the Adoption of Quick Response Measures, which proves Turkmenistan’s commitment to cooperate fully with the world community in strengthening peace, security and stability on a regional, as well as on a global scale.

Noting the importance and systematic nature of regular meetings in a bilateral format, also within the framework of various international platforms, diplomats expressed the need to intensify mutually beneficial Turkmen-Chinese partnership on key aspects of the bilateral agenda. The parties also paid special attention to the resumption and intensification of meetings between representatives of the public and private sectors of the two countries against the backdrop of an epidemic.
