THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS WORLD TOURISM ORGANIZATION (UNWTO) HELD A MEETING AT THE MFA OF TURKMENISTAN
On March 27, 2024, in the MFA of Turkmenistan, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and a delegation led by the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili, who arrived to participate in the International Conference “Main directions and potential for tourism development in Turkmenistan".
After words of gratitude to the Secretary General of the Organization for participation in the conference, a detailed exchange of views took place on the further development of the tourism industry of Turkmenistan in cooperation with UNWTO. The directions for implementing joint investment projects in tourism, training tourist guides in cooperation with the UNWTO Academy, providing assistance within the framework of the UNWTO Silk Road Program, cooperation in issues of mutual interest, such as in the field of marketing and communications, are considered.
The issues of participation of the UNWTO in the work of the Strategic Advisory Council “Turkmenistan-UN”, created on March 8, 2024, designed to become a mechanism for discussing and developing joint plans and projects, accession and contribution of Turkmenistan to global initiatives and companies, were considered in detail. And also, participation in the development and implementation of the Turkmenistan Cooperation Program in the field of tourism for 2024-2025.
