The rich program of events in honor of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the brilliant Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi continues.
Today, August 5, 2024, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Ukraine Mr. Toyly Atayev visited the Library named after Magtymguly in Kyiv and met with the director Elena Zubar and the library staff.
The Embassy of Turkmenistan treats with special respect and care the cultural and educational institution of the Svyatoshinsky district of Kyiv, which has been named after the famous Turkmen poet Magtymguly for more than 50 years. As you know, the library has a Magtymguly museum room. Here you can truly feel the connection with the great poet and his deep philosophical world, with the history and culture of the Turkmen people, because the museum widely presents unique examples of the intellectual heritage of the Turkmen people and their spiritual traditions, some of which came from the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan for the museum in the anniversary year.
The library has a lot of literature about the outstanding Fragi and his work. Following the good tradition of donating books, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan visited the Library named after Magtymguly today to donate new literature to the book fund. Among them are collections of poetry by Magtymguly Fragi in Ukrainian, English, German, French, Japanese, Romanian and Tajik, which were collected from Turkmen diplomatic missions abroad specifically for the Kyiv library.
A real treasure trove was the book of selected poems in English brought from Turkmenistan, prepared by the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan for the poet's 300th anniversary, published in Ashgabat in 2024.
A special pride is the book "Magtymguly Pyragy. Revelation" – a complete collection of translations of Fragi's poetry into Ukrainian. Its presentation took place in May of this year, but the publication has already become very popular among poetry lovers.
The library was also given a copy of a collection of poems and poems by the outstanding Ukrainian poet and writer Taras Shevchenko in the Turkmen language.
As is known, in May of this year, the opening of the monument to Magtymguly Pyragy and the new cultural and park complex "Magtymguly Pyragy" took place in Ashgabat, and on its territory - alleys of world-famous classical poets and thinkers from different countries, among which is a monument to the outstanding Ukrainian philosopher Grigoriy Skovoroda, erected as a sign of friendship between the peoples of our countries.
On this occasion, the Embassy prepared artistic photographs for the library, which depict the aforementioned sculptures of Magtymguly Pyragy and Grigoriy Skovoroda, as well as the sights of our country – historical and cultural monuments of Turkmenistan located on the historical route of the Great Silk Road, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Director of the Library named after Magtymguly Elena Zubar and the staff expressed sincere gratitude for the priceless gifts to the library and appreciation to the Embassy for its constant attention, replenishment of the funds and the museum with new literature and unique exhibits.
