MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE EURASIAN PATENT OFFICE OF THE EURASIAN PATENT ORGANIZATION

On October 16, 2024, a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and President of the Eurasian Patent Office of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) Grigory Ivliev.

At the beginning of the meeting, M.Byashimova expressed gratitude to G.Ivliev for his visit and participation in the work of the Regional Seminar on the Protection of Industrial Designs, which is being held from October 16 to 17.

During the meeting, issues of the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation were discussed, including the holding of joint events between Turkmenistan and the EAPO. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan is one of the active participants of the EAPO and the first state to join its key document - the Eurasian Patent Convention.

The Turkmen side has voiced the key actions of the country on the national level, including the implementation of the Programme of Development of the Intellectual Property System of Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, aimed among others at the enhancement of the legal basis of securing the intellectual property and its harmonization with the international legislation. 

The parties considered the opportunities of expanding the practical cooperation with the EAPO, including the issue of raising the level of proficiency of the national specialists, as well as on the legal matters related to the protection of the intellectual property.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
