TURKMEN-TAJIK POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS WERE HELD IN DUSHANBE
On 20 November 2024, the political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan were held in Dushanbe.
The Turkmen side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov, while the Tajik side by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Imomi Sodiq Ashurboyzoda.
During the consultations, the sides discussed political-diplomatic relations between the two countries and underlined the importance of regular contacts at the highest level. Special emphasis was placed on the issues of collaboration within regional and international structures, in particular the UN.
The interlocutors emphasized the effectiveness of the partnership between the foreign ministries. In this context, the diplomats highly appraised the level of relations within the framework of the current Programme of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of two countries. At the same time, the sides discussed issues related to the development of the legal framework of bilateral relations.
The sides assessed the state of trade-economic and investment partnership. They highlighted the need to enhance the conditions that facilitate further development of ties in this field, including the issues of increasing export-import transactions, expanding the range of goods and services provided.
In addition, the delegations focused on the cultural and humanitarian vector of cooperation. They noted the positive experience of cooperation in science and education. The sides agreed to continue the practice of organizing cultural and scientific exchanges.
In the framework of his visit to Tajikistan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan A.Gurbanov also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of Turkmen-Tajik collaboration and touched upon international and regional issues of mutual interest.
