THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN TOOK PART IN THE FIRST HIGH-LEVEL MEETING WITH THE HEADS OF STATE OF CENTRAL ASIA AND THE EUROPEAN UNION AND THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE SAMARKAND INTERNATIONAL CLIMATE FORUM

On 04.04.2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, took part in the first Central Asia – European Union Summit.

Speaking at the forum, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highly appreciated the potential for cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union, identifying the economy, investment, energy, transport, and trade as priority areas of cooperation in this format.

«Turkmenistan is firmly committed to a serious energy dialogue with the EU at a new substantive level and is ready to implement practical steps», – the head of Turkmenistan said, inviting European partners to a substantive discussion of partnership opportunities in the field of renewable energy. At the same time, readiness was noted to launch practical joint projects in the field of «green energy» and to consider prospects for cooperation in the use of wind and solar energy, hydrogen energy.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov called the creation of the East-West and West-East transport and communication lines a key component of strategic cooperation, expressing his readiness to provide the capacities of the Turkmenbashy seaport on the Caspian coast of Turkmenistan, as well as the road infrastructure on the territory of our country in the interests of this project. Along with this, the importance of building underwater infrastructure in the Caspian was noted.

On the same day, Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the opening ceremony of the first international forum “Central Asia in the Face of Global Climate Challenges: Consolidation for Common Prosperity”. The two-day forum, organized at the Congress Center of the Silk Road Samarkand complex, became one of the most important world events in the field of ecology and climate change.
