TURKMENISTAN STRENGTHENS COOPERATION WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE CENTRAL ASIA – ITALY SUMMIT
Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the first summit in the “Central Asia – Italy” format in Astana.
During the visit, the head of Turkmenistan held a number of bilateral meetings. In particular, a meeting was held with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during which, in a traditionally warm and trusting atmosphere, the parties confirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening the ties of friendship and brotherhood, as well as expanding multi-vector cooperation between the two countries. The head of Turkmenistan invited the leader of the friendly country to Turkmenistan to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC 3), which will be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.
The President of Turkmenistan also met with the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Giorgia Meloni. The parties expressed mutual confidence that the current dialogue will contribute to the progressive development of Turkmen-Italian relations. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with European countries, including Italy.
Within the framework of the first summit "Central Asia + Italy", the heads of state of the region and the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic signed a joint declaration, which secured the intention to strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, security and sustainable development. The document emphasized the importance of expanding trade and economic ties, developing transport corridors, as well as joint environmental initiatives and water management projects. The signing of the declaration creates a basis for further strengthening the partnership between Turkmenistan and Italy, and contributes to regional stability and development.
Cooperation between Italy and the Central Asian countries, which have significant resources, sustainable economic growth and a favorable geographical position, opens up new opportunities for the implementation of joint projects, including in the fields of energy, industry, infrastructure, as well as the transfer of advanced IT technologies and investments.
