Central Asian and U.S. Leaders Meet at the White House

U.S. President Donald Trump hosted a working dinner Thursday at the White House with leaders of Central Asian countries as part of the second Central Asia + U.S. (C5+1) summit.

The meeting brought together the presidents of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov; Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev; Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov; Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon; and Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The summit and working dinner marked the beginning of a new phase in the development of the C5+1 format and elevated the level of dialogue among the heads of state.

“We are strengthening our economic partnerships, improving our security cooperation, and expanding our overall bonds,” Trump said during the meeting with Central Asian leaders at the White House.

Established in 2015, the C5+1 format serves as a multilateral platform for cooperation between the five Central Asian countries and the United States, focusing on economic development, regional cooperation, and security issues.
