Poetry by Seyitnazar Seydi as part of a poetry marathon
As part of the ongoing poetry marathon organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine, a poem «Sen çölüň» ("Your Desert") by the classic of Turkmen literature Seyitnazar Seydi was read today. The work was read by Maysa Durdykuliyeva, a representative of the Turkmen diaspora in Ukraine.
Seyitnazar Seydi occupies a special place in Turkmenistan's cultural heritage. His poetry reflects a philosophical perception of the world, a profound connection between man and nature, and the spiritual and moral values of the Turkmen people. He is considered one of the most prominent continuers of the traditions of classical Eastern poetry.
A poem «Sen çölüň» is dedicated to the image of the desert—not only as a natural space, but also as a symbol of life, freedom, trials, and the human inner world. It celebrates the beauty and diversity of the desert: its roads, flowers, wildlife, its harshness and, at the same time, its generosity. Here, the desert is both a native land, a source of inspiration, and a space for reflection.
Feeling a special connection with the image of her native land conveyed in the poem, Maysa expressed a sense of nostalgia and love for her homeland, and also introduced the Ukrainian audience to the richness of Turkmen literature.
