On October 8, a ceremony was held in Awaza to sign documents following the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asia.

The Presidents of Turkmenistan (Serdar Berdimuhamedov), Azerbaijan (Ilham Aliyev), Kazakhstan (Kassym-Jomart Tokayev), Kyrgyzstan (Sadyr Japarov), Tajikistan (Emomali Rahmon), and Uzbekistan (Shavkat Mirziyoyev) signed the "Joint Statement of the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan." They also signed the "Decision on Regulatory Documents of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan."

Speaking at the consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia and Azerbaijan in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the countries were officially meeting in a six-party format for the first time.

According to the Turkmen leader, Azerbaijan’s accession was the practical and sound outcome of the states’ long-standing movement toward the ideals of brotherhood, good-neighborliness, and cooperation, as well as the aspiration of their peoples to advance together along the path of development and progress.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the world and the region are changing rapidly, and new conditions are emerging. In his view, this requires close attention and a sober, objective assessment in order to formulate sound and far-sighted decisions. In his view, the primary emphasis must be placed on steadily strengthening cooperation and maximizing the potential of the states involved. This encompasses foreign policy, security, and economic and trade opportunities, as well as the assets developed in the humanitarian, scientific, and educational spheres.

The President stated that today, countries can set truly ambitious strategic goals for themselves. According to him, dynamic economic growth, diversification, and improvements in quality and technological standards make it possible to significantly expand business ties on mutually beneficial terms.

The President of Turkmenistan highlighted the growing role of Central Asia and Azerbaijan as key logistics and energy hubs. In his assessment, this opens up promising prospects for cooperation with partners in Asia and Europe. Among the enduring priorities, he cited the strengthening of shared spiritual, cultural, and value-based ties, as well as the development of the humanitarian dimension.
