ISSUES OF TURKMEN-RUSSIAN COOPERATION WERE DISCUSSED

Today, on October 7, a meeting was held between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk, who arrived in Turkmenistan with a working visit.

In the course of the talks, the sides stated that the current visit of the Russian delegation to Turkmenistan attests to the high level of bilateral cooperation. In this context, the sides stressed the need for further development and strengthening of bilateral relations in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The positive experience of interaction within the framework of reputable international and regional organizations was especially emphasized.

The interlocutors also touched upon issues related to the development of the legal and contractual framework of cooperation. Among the leading areas of bilateral trade and economic cooperation the parties noted energy, gas chemistry, industry, transport, logistics, trade, machinery, agriculture and other prospective areas of mutual interest.

In addition, the parties noted the high dynamics of bilateral trade turnover. It was emphasized that cooperation with the regions of the Russian Federation is actively developing. Active exchange of visits in the context of inter-regional cooperation of Turkmenistan and Russia was noted.
