AN EXHIBITION “CULTURAL VALUES OF THE TURKMEN PEOPLE” AT THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF UKRAINE FOR CHILDREN

Attention for the visitors of the National Library of Ukraine for children and everyone!

From May 23 to May 30, 2024, an exhibition of photographs, books and national clothing entitled “Cultural values of the Turkmen people” was opened at the National Library of Ukraine for children, organized jointly with the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine, in honor of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Turkmen poet and the thinker Magtymguly Fragi and the year “Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi”.

As part of the photo exhibition, readers and visitors of the national library can get acquainted with the history, architecture and culture of Turkmenistan, traditions and customs of the Turkmen people. Here you can see archaeological monuments of Turkmenistan located on the historical route of the Great Silk Road: the cities of Ancient Merv, Kunyaurgench, the fortresses of Ancient Nisa, included in the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List. At the photo are modern Turkmen cities - the capital Ashgabat and the new smart city Arkadag, national women's jewelry and clothing, musical instruments, the national treasure of the Turkmens - Akhal-Teke horses and Alabais. Also presented are the national art of carpet weaving, embroidery, the art of Akhal-Teke horse breeding and the traditions of horse decoration, included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

On the mannequins, next to the photo exhibition, samples of national traditional women's, men's and children's clothing are presented.

The book is a source of wisdom. As part of the exhibition of book products, numerous editions of poems by the wise Turkmen poet Fragi and the complete collection of translations into Ukrainian “Magtymguly Fragi. Revelation”, as well as other popular literature of Turkmenistan.  

The exhibition is on display on the 2nd floor of the building of the National Library of Ukraine for children at the address: Kyiv, st. Janusz Korczak, 60.
