ISSUES OF DEVELOPMENT OF TURKMEN-KAZAKH RELATIONS WERE DISCUSSED
On May 27, 2024, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev greeted the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who is currently on a visit to Astana.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of the foreign affairs department conveyed to the President of Kazakhstan greetings and wishes from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
It was emphasized that the relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan have reached a qualitatively new level, having acquiring the character of a strategic partnership. The parties were unanimous in the opinion that contacts at the highest level play a decisive role in intensifying interaction between two countries.
The high level of cooperation between the two states in a multilateral format, in particular within the UN, was noted.
During the conversation, topical issues of further development of Turkmen-Kazakh bilateral cooperation in priority areas of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian formats were discussed. The parties emphasized the effective nature of intergovernmental, interparliamentary, interdepartmental and interministerial relations.
There was also an exchange of views on the current issues of the regional and international agenda of mutual interest.
