AMBASSADOR OF TURKMENISTAN TO UKRAINE HELD A MEETING WITH THE HEAD OF THE ALL-UKRAINIAN CENTER FOR EMBROIDERY AND CARPET WEAVING

On February 20 this year, Ambassador Toyly Atayev met with the head of the All-Ukrainian Center for Embroidery and Carpet Weaving, member of the National Union of Folk Art Masters and Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine Nadiya Vakulenko and carpet weaving master Yulia Pariychuk at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine.
The All-Ukrainian Center of Embroidery and Carpet Weaving is located in Reshetylivka, Poltava region. The city itself became one of the centers of embroidery, carpet weaving and weaving back in the 19th century, where a unique, especially complex, world-famous type of embroidery comes from – «white on white». The head of the Center, which today continues the centuries-old traditions of developing Ukrainian crafts of embroidery and carpet weaving, spoke about this during the meeting. The Center successfully forms collections of ethnographic, artistic, documentary materials related to embroidery and carpet weaving, ensures their storage, conservation and restoration, and is also engaged in scientific activities.
Representatives of the All-Ukrainian Center for Embroidery and Carpet Weaving spoke about the active cultural and educational activities of the Center for the popularization of folk art and crafts, about holding master classes and exhibitions, participation in various regional, All-Ukrainian and international events.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan, in turn, told the guests about the traditions of the Turkmen national art of carpet weaving and embroidery, which are of particular importance in preserving and popularizing our cultural heritage and national identity, and are also included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The Ukrainian guests were invited to take part in the exhibition of carpets and carpet products, as well as the XXV meeting of the World Society of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs in honor of the Turkmen Carpet Festival, which will be held on May 25 this year in Ashgabat.
In turn, carpet master Yulia Pariychuk shared her memories of a trip to the Turkmen capital, where she presented unique examples of Ukrainian folk art as part of an exhibition on the occasion of the Turkmen Carpet Festival in 2015.
The meeting participants expressed interest in participating in and holding joint events to exchange experiences and popularize the cultural heritage of friendly countries.
