On the last Sunday of April, Turkmenistan annually celebrates the National Day of the Turkmen Horse.

This holiday is almost the same age as independence, it was established in 1992, and since then it has been celebrated with great enthusiasm, at a high organizational level.

The events preceding the date begin in early April, which gain momentum by the last Sunday of the month, when this celebration is celebrated.

In all periods of the glorious history of our people, special honors were given to the "paradise" horses. The Ahal-Teke horse, for its unique grace and beauty, has become a priceless treasure not only for our country, but for all of humanity.

A clear indication that the national values formed by the Turkmen people over the centuries are recognized in the world was the decision to include the nomination of the Ahal-Teke horse breeding art and the traditions of decorating the "heavenly" horses in the list of outstanding examples of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO, adopted during the 18th session of the Intergovernmental Committee, held in Kasane (Republic of Botswana) in December 2023.

In Turkmenistan, large-scale work is underway to preserve the gene pool of purebred Ahal-Teke horses, increase their population, much attention is paid to the standard of living of horse breeders, who are awarded the honorary titles of "Honored Horse Breeder of Turkmenistan", "Master Mentor and Rider of Turkmenistan", "People's Horse Breeder of Turkmenistan". The successes of the Galkynyş National Equestrian Games Group were also noted.

Today, April 25, the Mary Equestrian Complex hosted a festive horse race dedicated to the National Day of the Turkmen Horse. This event emphasized the status and significance of this significant date, widely celebrated in our country.
