ARTICLE DEDICATED TO THE 300TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BEACON OF TURKMEN LITERATURE MAGTYMGULY ON THE PAGES OF THE ALL-UKRAINIAN CULTURAL NEWSPAPER "PROSVITA"

Composer and teacher at Kyiv Children's Art School No. 8 Tatyana Dyman wrote about the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi, as well as how the 300th anniversary of the great poet is celebrated in Ukraine.

The composer's article entitled "Let the heart seek a dream." To mark the anniversary of the beacon of Turkmen literature” was published on March 28, 2024 on the pages of the All-Ukrainian cultural weekly “Slovo Prosvity”. The chief editor of the newspaper is Honored Artist of Ukraine, famous poet and writer Pavlo Movchan, whose original translations of Magtymguly’s poems into Ukrainian are widely known not only in Ukraine.

The author of the article spoke about the life and development of the future poet in his youth, about the abilities and activities of the talented young man, about the thirst for knowledge, Magtymguly’s long years of study and travel around the world, and about his talented father, the famous poet Dovletmammet Azadi. The author focuses on the patriotic and lyrical motives of the poet’s work, his individual, innovative verbal style, close to folk speech.

It was indicated that the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi was included in the List of significant dates for joint celebration with UNESCO in 2024–2025. At the same time, the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) proclaimed 2024 “The Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World – Magtymguly Fragi.”

The author shares her vivid impressions of the cultural and poetic event in which she took part in March of this year in the Kyiv library named Magtymguly, entitled “The Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi”. After all, within the framework of this meeting, expert opinions of cultural figures were voiced on the significance of Fraga’s poetic heritage in the global context, parallels were drawn and common features were found with the work of Taras Shevchenko, the philosophy of Grigory Skovoroda, filled with the ideas of humanism and freedom. The merits of our contemporaries - Ukrainian poets, writers, scientists and translators Pavlo Movchan, Olexiy Kononenko, Yuriy Peleshenko in popularizing the poetic heritage of Magtymguly in Ukraine were noted. In this direction, the merit of the Library named after Magtymguly in Kyiv, which this year celebrates the 55th anniversary of its foundation.

Participants in the song and poetry part of the event performed in different genres in order to reveal as widely as possible the deep creativity of the wise poet and thinker Magtymguly, which is becoming closer and more understandable to the Ukrainian people. Among the musical numbers is an original song by composer Tatyana Dyman to the words of Magtymguly translated by Olexiy Kononenko, which she performed together with vocalist Natalya Maksymchuk.
