TURKMENISTAN, UN ALLIANCE OF CIVILIZATIONS DISCUSS KEY AREAS OF COOPERATION

Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Miguel Ángel Moratinos, UN Deputy Secretary-General and High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday in New York.

According to official Turkmen media, special attention was given to promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue, as well as strengthening mutual understanding and trust on the international stage.

The Turkmen side reaffirmed its commitment to actively using the platform of the 80th General Assembly session to advance the global agenda of peace, trust and mutual understanding.

Among Ashgabat’s proposals — organizing, under the auspices of UNESCO and the Alliance of Civilizations, an international forum titled “Central Asia – A Space for Building a Peaceful Life” and a Global Summit on Culture of Peace, Trust, and Mutual Respect.

Both parties expressed their readiness to develop cooperation in these areas and work together in the name of peace.
