TURKMENISTAN LAUNCHES FOURTH PHASE ОF GALKYNYSH GAS FIELD DEVELOPMENT
Turkmenistan has launched the fourth phase of development at the supergiant Galkynysh gas field, where a ceremonial start was held for new drilling operations and the construction of a natural gas processing facility.
The project envisages the creation of capacities to additionally process up to 10 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year. The new phase is aimed at increasing production volumes and strengthening the country’s export potential, primarily toward China.
According to the report, the initiative is expected to create new jobs, expand the capabilities of the fuel and energy sector, and further strengthen cooperation between Turkmenistan and China in the gas industry.
Earlier, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution under which the State Concern Turkmengaz concluded a contract with China National Petroleum Corporation Amu Darya Petroleum Company Ltd.
The Galkynysh gas field ranks among the world’s largest in terms of natural gas reserves. Its phased development is intended to further boost natural gas exports.
