A MONUMENT TO THE LEGENDARY AKHAL-TEKE HORSE PIYADA WAS UNVEILED IN ASHGABAT
The monument to the famous Akhal-Teke stallion Piyada (“Pedestrian”) was opened in Ashgabat on the grounds of an equestrian sports complex. The ceremony took place as part of the celebration of the National Day of the Turkmen Horse, with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Piyada is one of the most outstanding representatives of the Akhal-Teke breed. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atahallyev recalled the achievements of the renowned horse: for four consecutive years—from 1998 to 2001—he was recognized as the winner of national Akhal-Teke horse beauty shows, and in 2008 and 2009 he twice won the top prize at the international “Star of Turkestan” competition in Tashkent.
On the same day, an international beauty contest for Akhal-Teke horses was held at the complex’s hippodrome. The winner was the stallion Hankerven, born in 2018, from the Akhal-Teke Equestrian Complex of the President of Turkmenistan.
