THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN CONGRATULATED HIS COMPATRIOTS ON VICTORY DAY
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to the people of the country on the occasion of the celebration of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
“I am confident that in 2026, declared the year of ‘Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan—the Homeland of the Purposeful Winged Steeds,’ the celebrations dedicated to this glorious holiday will further strengthen our solidarity and unity, our national pride in our native Motherland, and our peaceful way of life,” the message states.
In 1941–1945, humanity faced unprecedented catastrophic upheavals and irreparable losses. The harsh war years put the global economic system, the civilizational development of nations, and human destinies through an extremely severe test. Decades have passed, yet the pain of those difficult times remains deeply etched in the hearts of all people, including our nation, which advocates national unity and peace. Today, that pain urges and inspires us all to defend peace and friendship.
“The people of Turkmenistan, together with their brotherly nations, stood united against the fascist threat, demonstrating an impeccable example of courage — their military feat has been inscribed in golden letters in the pages of history. Thousands of our brave compatriots displayed exemplary heroism, outstanding humanity, and selfless love for the Motherland in the name of peace and friendship on earth,” the President emphasized.
For the sake of the cherished Victory, the women of Turkmenistan voluntarily donated 7,392 kilograms of silver and gold jewelry to the Defense Fund, thereby demonstrating an unparalleled example of humanity and devotion to the Motherland. During those years overshadowed by hardship, skilled craftswomen wove the giant carpet “Soul of the Turkmen” — a magnificent and unique work of art in history, created through the inspiration and creative spirit of Turkmen women and girls, vividly demonstrating to the world the Turkmen people’s aspiration for a peaceful and prosperous life.
“Therefore, today, on Victory Day, following the noble tradition inherited from our valiant ancestors, we lay bouquets of flowers with profound respect at monuments throughout the country, including at the ‘Halk Hakydasy’ Memorial Complex in the capital. In doing so, we honor the memory of our compatriots — the fearless heroes and workers who made a worthy contribution to bringing about the glorious Victory and establishing peaceful life. As a sign of boundless respect and reverence, on Victory Day we solemnly present valuable gifts to war veterans,” the head of state noted.
