ONLINE TALKS TO JOIN TURKMENISTAN TO THE WORLD BANK BUSINESS PROJECT
On June 19, 2020, online negotiations were held on the accession of Turkmenistan to the World Bank Doing Business project.
The negotiations were attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Economics of Turkmenistan, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, an employee of the World Bank’s representative office in Turkmenistan, as well as World Bank specialists via video link.
Noting the productive nature of cooperation with the World Bank in various areas, including healthcare, statistics, transport, banking and financial systems, the meeting participants emphasized the importance of the proposed project. In this context, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for building up bilateral relations in the light of the cardinal transformations of the national economic complex that is being implemented in Turkmenistan and, in particular, on the further development of the non-state sector of the economy.
The above-mentioned project to date covers more than 180 countries. Its purpose is to provide an objective basis for understanding and improving the regulatory framework governing business activities around the world, by collecting and analyzing comprehensive quantitative data to compare the regulatory conditions for this type of work between countries and over time.
