TELEPHONE CONVERSATION BETWEEN THE PRESIDENTS OF TURKMENISTAN AND AZERBAIJAN

On July 31, 2020, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Warmly welcoming each other, the leaders of the two countries exchanged congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, expressing their wishes that this bright holiday, embodying such common values for the Muslim Ummah and all mankind as mercy, benevolence and mutual assistance, be full of prosperity and abundance, and also contribute to strengthening fruitful cooperation between neighboring states.

As noted during the conversation, Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations are based on the long-standing bonds of friendship and brotherhood, the common spiritual and cultural values that unite the two neighboring peoples, on the adherence to the principles of peacefulness and humanism in international affairs.

In this context, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have a solid potential for expanding interaction in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, strengthening bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the fraternal peoples.

In continuation of the telephone conversation, such a topic as preventive activities and the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, which caused serious tests for the world community and has a negative impact on international life, was discussed.

In this regard, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov spoke about the need to consolidate efforts in order to develop new ideas and approaches to jointly overcome the difficult situation in the modern world.

The head of Turkmenistan noted the timeliness of the recent trilateral meeting with the participation of the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The agreements reached in its course will serve to activate the international transport and transit corridor Lapis Lazuli, the effective use of which will contribute to strengthening trade relations and overall sustainable development.

At the end of the conversation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ilham Aliyev wished each other health and success in responsible state activities, and peace and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of the two countries.
