HIGH-RANKING DELEGATION OF TURKMENISTAN TOOK PART IN THE EURASIAN INTERGOVERNMENTAL COUNCIL

On April 29-30, 2021, a delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber, and Member of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid a visit to the city of Kazan of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation.

On April 30, a high-ranking Turkmen delegation took part in a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, which was held at the Kazan City Hall.

During the meeting, the Vice Prime Minister noted that for the first time Turkmenistan participates in a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union as an honored guest, which in itself is a landmark event, reflecting a mutual interest in establishing long-term multifaceted cooperation, understanding its prospects and opportunities.

He also stressed that this corresponds to the logic of Turkmenistan's course for close interaction with interstate associations in the Eurasian space, such as the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Eurasian Economic Union.

Within the framework of the visit, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan S. Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation M.V. Mishustin.

 

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the huge potential that exists between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and fuel-energy spheres. The commitment of Turkmenistan to expanding historical mutually beneficial ties with the Russian Federation was reaffirmed.

Then the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers S. Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation R.N. Minnikhanov.

In the course of constructive negotiations, it was noted that the fruitful contacts between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation are an illustrative example of effective interaction between the country and the Russian Federation in the field of political and diplomatic partnership, trade, industry, culture, education and other promising areas.

 At the end of the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was awarded by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan R. Minnikhanov with the medal "100 years of formation of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic", which is a state award of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation.
