Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan have launched a test route linking China with Baku, as part of efforts to strengthen regional transport ties and expand international logistics.

According to the Turkmen Transport and Logistics Center (TULM), the project involves TULM, O’ztemiryo’lkonteyner JSC, and Azerbaijan’s Alliance Multimodal.

During the pilot phase, four 40-foot containers were shipped from China to Azerbaijan.

The containers arrived at Osh station in Kyrgyzstan, where documentation is being processed and preparations are underway for onward rail transport through Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and then across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan.

Under the agreements, the transit time from Osh to Baku is expected to be 12 calendar days.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route provides an alternative to traditional logistics corridors, connecting China with Europe via Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, the Caucasus, and Türkiye.
