POETRY MARATHON IN THE KYIV LIBRARY NAMED AFTER MAGTYMGULY ON THE WORLD POETRY DAY AND THE 300TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TURKMEN POET AND THINKER MAGTYMGULY FRAGI

On the occasion of the World Poetry Day, which is celebrated annually on March 21, and on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi, in the Library named after Magtymguly in Kyiv, together with the Embassy of Turkmenistan, organized a reading of poetic works.

“The poetic word flows” is the name of the creative action that lasted on March 20 and 21 of this year. It was attended by Turkmen students and representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, management and staff of the Library named after Magtymguly and the Svichado library system, heads and students of secondary schools in the Svyatoshinsky district of Kyiv.

Participants of the poetry marathon recited poems by the great poets Magtymguly Fragi and Taras Shevchenko, included in the treasury of world poetry, in the Turkmen and Ukrainian languages. Two outstanding poets of two friendly countries became the voices of their peoples and reflected their spiritual life in their work.

The connection between poets, the spiritual closeness of peoples was palpable in the reading of poems by the mouths of Turkmen youth. Magtymguly’s poems “Habar ber - şeýledir”, “Durasyň geler”, “Ili gözlär”, “Печаль зосталася” were read under the single title “The Wise and Eternal Word of Fragi”.

The words of the great Kobzar of the Ukrainian people from the read poems “Derek” and “Думи мої, думи мої” were close in spirit to the youth.

The participants of the marathon are managers and employees of the Library named after Magtymguly and the Svichado library system, teachers and students of secondary schools in the Svyatoshinsky district of Kyiv recited poems by poets in their native language. Fragi’s well-known poems were sung in Ukrainian - «Доля Туркменії», «Вітром свіжим із Гюргена», «Не піддавайся долі», «Твій гожий стан», «Не знають», «Добро і зло», «Настав час», "О Боже всеблагий!", «Очей твоїх він гість», «Не зразу пізнаємо» and of course the eternal works of the national Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko - an excerpt from the poem «Гайдамаки», «Заповіт», «Мені тринадцятий минало...».
