THE MEJLIS OF TURKMENISTAN HELD A CONFERENCE ON THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN MODERN SOCIETY

On March 31, 2026, the Mejlis of Turkmenistan held a conference dedicated to the role of women in modern society.

The conference was attended by the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, members of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, female heads of UN agencies in Turkmenistan, and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in the country, according to the Mejlis's website.

Participants discussed the opportunities created in the country to support motherhood and childhood. They also discussed the country's humanitarian policy and ways to improve the effectiveness of international cooperation with UN agencies in this area.

The conference participants emphasized the importance of disseminating information to the international community through parliamentary diplomacy about the country's work to protect women's rights and interests, support families, strengthen the status of women in society, expand their educational, medical, and economic opportunities, and further develop international cooperation in this area.
