A UNESCO CHAIR IN DIGITAL SCIENCE HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN TURKMENISTAN
On April 15, 2026, the grand opening of the UNESCO Chair “Digital Science” took place at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
The new structure is the third in the country under the global UNITWIN program and is designed to accelerate the technological transformation of national science and its integration into the global scientific and educational space.
The chair was established within the framework of the UNESCO UNITWIN (University Twinning and Networking) Programme, which brings together over 1,100 specialized structures in more than 130 countries.
It complements existing centers in the country—the UNESCO Chair “Cultural Heritage: From Past to Future” at the Magtymguly Turkmen State University and the Chair “Environmental Education for Sustainable Development” at the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute.
The chair’s priority areas include projects in artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and the application of geospatial technologies and satellite monitoring systems in natural resource management and the development of the agro-industrial complex.
